Rachel is a member º£½ÇÊÓƵ senior leadership team in the School of Nursing and Midwifery and as part of this role is responsible for leading the academic staff within the children's nursing team. In addition to this role, Rachel is responsible for nursing recruitment, international and business development. Rachel has published in Working papers in Health Sciences and the Higher Education Academy her Masters in Education dissertation Enhancing student nurse's maths confidence and ability via numeracy drop-in sessions. Rachel is in the early stages of her professional doctorate. Her research interests include numerical ability of student nurses and destructive feedback.

Following successful completion of her Registered General Nurse Training at South Manchester, Rachel initially worked on a male surgical ward as a junior staff nurse. From there she worked as a staff nurse on a Children's unit within a district general hospital, this led her to commence her Children's Nursing training at the University of Salford in 2000, when she qualified as a Registered Children's Nurse. Since then she has gained experience in nursing acutely ill children both with surgical and medical needs and within a children's emergency setting. Prior to working at the University of Central Lancashire, she was a clinical placement facilitator in a local NHS trust where she worked closely with Higher Education Institutes. During her time at the University of Central Lancashire Rachel has gained a wealth of experience in teaching and learning, quality assurance and student experience, she is an experienced academic and a passionate children's nurse. Rachel is a Registrant Visitor with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and within this role undertakes a quality assurance process for other Higher Education Institutions with nursing programmes. In her role as International Lead for the School Rachel has travelled to Nigeria and Ghana where she has spoken about Nursing in the UK and the nursing courses available at the University of Central Lancashire.
