Dr Adrian Wright

Adrian Wright's academic background and research interests are drawn from a number of disciplines. He has a first degree from Manchester Metropolitan University in Hospitality Management, a Master’s degree from Manchester Business School in Corporate Communications and Reputation Management and a PhD from Alliance Manchester Business School. Adrian is an Academic Fellow º£½ÇÊÓƵ CIPD and a Fellow º£½ÇÊÓƵ Royal Society of Arts. Adrian is also a Director º£½ÇÊÓƵ Institute for Research into Work, Organisations and Employment.
Adrian is an Associate Dean in the School of Business, holding responsibility for Business Development, Portfolio, Partnerships and Recruitment. Adrian has sat on several School and institutional committees and working groups. Adrian is committed to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and contributed to the successful Bronze award for Athena Swan in the School of Business.
Alongside his role as Associate Dean, Adrian has been the Director º£½ÇÊÓƵ Institute for Research into Work, Organisations and Employment since 2018, where he has led, and worked on, several research and knowledge exchange projects including projects funded by the UKRI, Innovate UK, AHRC, NESTA and the ESRC. Recently his work around employment relations in the NHS has led to funded projects partnering with ACAS and the Healthcare People Management Association.
His research interests are varied and include work and employment in the creative industries and new work arrangements in the new economy, employment relations, health and wellbeing and conflict management. He completed his PhD in 2016 where he investigated enterprise and entrepreneurialism in the digital games sector. More recently Adrian has undertaken projects examining occupational communities in Coworking spaces, employment relations in the NHS and creative clusters and the Preston Model.
Adrian regularly talks and writes about issues relating to work and employment. He has appeared in several international and national media outlets including the BBC, and Al Jazeera and the Daily Telegraph. He is also a regular commentator in local media including featuring in publications such as Lancashire Business View and the Lancashire Evening Post.
Adrian has undertaken several leadership roles within the school including Equality and Diversity lead, student experience lead, year one lead and Academic lead for Communications, Marketing and Public Relations and Deputy Head of School.
